This article talks about how Ford is trying to stop bacteria However they use things like Ammonium salt and Agion. I am not a chemist, but I am sure this is like everything else to protect us. We breath it in and touch it. Then it destroys good bacteria.

The silver-ion has already been fused with paint and sold under the name Agion, which slows the growth of bacteria better than what automakers currently use.
