So i believe the reason people have been pushing the recording every piece of metadata is so that the NSA/ DEA, IRS etc have evidence to lock you up without having to actually get the evidence. So for example, the IRS claims you did not pay any taxes and eared $20 million last year. Now they can claim to have the recording (to give probable cause), so that they can get into your finances and actually get the data.
This is bad news. We need to stop this immediately. The FISA court is not beholden to you or me, but to some rich people who want you and me out the way.
